The 2007
Pinellas County Official Hurricane Guide: Surviving the Storm
is now on-line. Everything you need to know about preparing your
home, family and pets before, during and after a storm, useful
phone numbers and websites, family plan and disaster survival
kit. Also a special
section for condo dwellers. Here are some tips from the Board
that you can follow to minimize damage for yourself and our community.
Some of these may be duplicates of what is in Elliott-Merrill's
information. 1)Be sure that all your furniture is off your
balcony. 2) Be sure your shutters are in good condition and
closed securely. 3) Have your roof AC unit checked to make absolutely
certain that no wires are exposed and that the unit is strapped
to the mounting rails. 4) Make sure that the water in your unit
is turned off and the current to your water heater is also off.
5) Me sure that your freezer and refrigerator are emptied of any
food that could spoil if the current goes off. 6) Make sure that
your front door and windows are firmly closed and latched. Pressure
variations have caused windows to blow in when top clips are cracked
or broken.
